Fall Colors

Okay, another shallow post.  Today I took off my gray cardigan and set it on my leather purse.  The heather gray and the light brown leather looked so pretty together.  It's really one of my favorite color combinations for fall.  Here are a few other old classics.  It's so nice to return to them each fall.

Wishlisted: Back to School

It's back to school time.  Each September since I graduated from college many, many six years ago, I get a little nostalgic for school.  To be honest, what I miss most is a legitimate reason for shopping for a new wardrobe and fresh study supplies.

Here is my grown up back to school wishlist.  It is far more sophisticated than it would have been all those six years ago and contains no notebooks or pencils.  It does contain pencil skirts, however.  I guess my focus has changed.

Outfit #1:  Warby Parker glasses / OPI nail polishJ. Crew sweatshirt / Chiara jeans / H&M ballet flats
Outfit #2:  Irene Neuwirth earrings / Lancome lipstick / A.P.C. top / All Saints pencil skirt  / Chanel pumps
Outfit #3:  FOREVER21 headband / Linens N Things (!) silver ring / Madewell chambray shirt / Zara floral pants / My Hot Shoes flats
Outfit #4:  Kate Spade studs / Charlotte Russe bangles / Top Shop peplumJ. Crew skirt / A/X sandals

Hey there.  So, that little break from posting was unexpected and for no reason, really.  No reason other than feeling a touch uninspired.  And, in truth, I wanted to actually live life a little rather than trolling the internet, dreaming about what I wish my life were like.  It's easy to fall into that trap, you know?  During my little hiatus I cooked, I watched movies, I walked my pup, did little summer things.  Nothing much, but reenergizing all the same.  Anyway, I'm hoping to start posting more regularly around here again.

In the meantime, here's to a great long holiday weekend!

A Few of My Favorite Things

I had to share a few recent favorites:

+ Since I saw it a few months ago, I haven't stopped thinking about Joslyn's impeccable patio makeover on Simple Lovely.  The layers and layers of textures, brass, wood, linen, brick.  Perfectly casual, perfectly glamorous and oh so comfortable.  Love it.

+ This peach and branch tassel on Etsy (a find via Simple Lovely).  It's sweet and rugged, just the way most things should be, really.

+ I cannot get enough of my new favorite style blog: The Life Styled.  Catherine Sheppard is my kinda girl:  she enjoys mixing a mean cocktail (me too), has gold spray painted animals around her home (so do I) and is originally from MN (I am too).  See?  Kindred spirits.

+ And finally, a poem by Shel Silverstein (remember, he wrote Where the Sidewalk Ends).  I came across it today and it's a new favorite.  Indulge me, if you will:

She had blue skin,
And so did he.
He kept it hid
And so did she.
They searched for blue
Their whole life through,
Then passed right by--
And never knew.

July Bouquet, A Little Late

This July bouquet post is a little belated due to some computer issues (my SD card reader randomly stopped working and my computer repairing skills are quite sub par).  Anyway, on my table currently sit a couple of vases of pretty sprays of little yellow flowers.  They look like the button centers of daisies.  With a little Internet research, I've found what I think they are: tansies.  You learn something everyday.

My cute little tansies look best tucked betweens plates and serving platters when the table is well set.  They are also mighty fetching atop a stack of books and magazines in the setting sun, don't you think?
